Toronto FC vs. New England Revolution: 3 takeaways
TFC stopped the rot and got back to basics with a solid defensive play in Saturday's shutout home win over New England.
Toronto FC's 1-0 home win over the New England Revolution wasn't pretty, but the Reds managed to get the job done in what coach John Herdman described as a "back to basics" performance.
Prince Owusu scored a highlight-reel winner in the 66th minute, Sean Johnson made some great stops in recording the clean sheet, and Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty made a big impact coming off the bench to help Toronto (4-4-1) snap a three-game losing streak.
"Proud of the effort tonight. Proud of the way they managed the game and [we] just made sure we were hard to beat. That was the big starting point," Herdman said.
Here are my three major takeaways from Saturday's contest.
