Twice now, the Canadian women's team has been on the brink of an early exit at the Paris Olympics.
And twice they have valiantly staved off elimination.
For the second game in a row, centre back Vanessa Gilles scored the winner for the Canadians in a must-win match, lifting Canada to a 1-0 victory over Colombia on Wednesday.
A loss or draw would have sent the reigning Olympics champions home. Instead, they kept alive their hopes of winning a fourth consecutive Olympic medal and repeating as gold medal winners.
