Toronto FC vs. Forge FC: What you need to know
TFC will be out for revenge and looking to stay alive in the Canadian Championship when they host the CPL champs on Tuesday.
Toronto FC has it all to do against Forge FC in the second leg of the Canadian Championship semifinals.
A 2-1 loss to the CPL champs in Hamilton in last month's opener of the aggregate series puts TFC in a precarious situation, as they'll need a win in the return match in order to advance to the final. A loss or draw against Forge would eliminate the Reds from the competition.
In the first leg, the combination of David Choinière and Tristan Borges led a throbbing Forge attack that made life very uncomfortable for Toronto's defenders, something that coach John Herdman is leery about ahead of the second leg.
“We’ve got a good look and feel of the Choinière-Borges partnership, how they can damage you. They’re two players that really understand each other and how to bring the best out of each other. I was impressed with the quality of those two players," Herdman said.
Here’s what you need to know about Tuesday's match between Toronto and Forge at BMO Field (7:00 p.m. ET/OneSoccer).
