August 9, 2024: Marshall-Rutty sent to CF Montreal

Toronto FC has acquired up to $1,300,000 US in General Allocation Money (GAM) from CF Montreal in exchange for Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty. As part of the deal, TFC receives a guaranteed $850,000 in GAM – $450,000 in 2024 GAM and $400,000 2025 GAM – and up to an additional $450,000 in conditional GAM if certain performance-based metrics are met. Also, TFC retains a sell-on percentage in the event of a future permanent transfer of the winger.

Quick analysis: Toronto FC managed to pull off a major deal prior to Thursday’s MLS transfer deadline (for Canadian clubs) by sending one of its most promising prospects to its biggest rival.
