CanWNT Talk: Reds impress in friendly win over Australia
There was a lot to like about the Canadian women's team’s 1-0 win over Australia on Saturday at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.
Adriana Leon's highlight-reel goal, her 25th for Canada, was the key moment in the game. Celtic forward Clarissa Larisey and 18-year-old midfielder Simi Awujo came on in the 75th minute for their first Canadian senior caps.
Right fullback Bianca St-Georges was outstanding in just her fourth appearance, Julia Grosso and Jessie Fleming formed an effective partnership in midfield, goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan got the better of Australia forward Sam Kerr, and Bev Priestman's switch from a 4-3-3- to a 4-2-3-1 formation provided hope for the future.
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, I break down all of this and examine Canada's win in Brisbane against the Matildas.
