Beckie's brace lifts Canada over Chile at Tokyo Olympics
- Canada 2 (Beckie 39’; 47’) , Chile 1 (Araya 57’)
- Beckie now has 5 Olympic goals for Canada
- Sheridan starts in goal for injured Labbé
It was far from perfect, but Canada is off the mark at the Tokyo Olympics.
After drawing in its opening match of the tournament, Canada survived a late scare from Chile, but held on for a 2-1 win in Sapporo on Saturday to inch closer to qualification for the knockout round.
Janine Beckie scored both goals for Canada (1-1-0, four points), who sits in second place in Group E with four points, behind Great Britain (2-0-0, six points), and ahead of Japan (0-1-1, one point) and pointless Chile.
