What to make of Canada's win over Curaçao in Concacaf Nations League?
After what can best be described as a tumultuous week, the Canadian men's team put all the recent drama behind them when they took to the pitch on Thursday night and reminded people why they're one of the most exciting teams to watch in Concacaf.
Canada was full value for its 4-0 win over Curaçao in Vancouver in its opening game of the 2022-23 Concacaf Nations league qualifiers, with Alphonso Davies stealing the headlines with his brace and man-of-the match effort.
Seeing as this was likely Canada's last game on home soil before leaving for the World Cup in November, Thursday should have served as a celebratory send-off for John Herdman's side. Instead, recent events led to a sedate and sombre atmosphere inside BC Place, although you can hardly blame Vancouver fans for the way they've been put through the wringer the last two weeks.
Here are my thoughts on the game.
