Canada blanks Curaçao in Concacaf Nations League qualifier
The Canadians showed no signs of rust following a lengthy layover in a comprehensive road win on Saturday night.
- Canada 2 (David 22’; Larin 43’), Curaçao 0
- Canadians on verge of qualifying for Nations League finals
- Reds also qualified for Gold Cup with Saturday’s win
A three-month layover didn't diminish the competitive spirit of a Canadian men’s side that is beginning a hugely important cycle in the buildup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Canada rolled to an easy 2-0 road win over Curaçao on Saturday in Concacaf Nations League qualifying, its first taste of action since bowing out in the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar.
Jonathan David and Cyle Larin scored for the Canadians, and Milan Borjan earned the clean sheet against the hosts who played with only 10 men for the final 52 minutes. Jonathan Osorio put in a workman-like shift at the heart of Canada’s high press that prevented Curaçao from getting out of first gear. TFC teammate Richie Laryea had an assist and put in a man-of-the-match effort with his stellar play on both sides of the ball.
