Canada beats up Honduras to qualify for Concacaf Nations League finals
The Canadian men’s team brushed aside the Central Americans on Tuesday night, forcing them to play most of the game on the back foot.
- Canada 4 (Larin 8’, 11’; David 49’; Osorio 86’), Honduras 1 (Benguché 73’)
- Larin and David run rampant in win over Los Catrachos
- Reds unbeaten in 23 games at BMO Field since 2010
TORONTO – John Herdman didn’t mince words ahead of the Canadian men’s team’s finale in Concacaf Nations League qualifying.
Herdman made it crystal clear earlier this week that Canada couldn’t afford to rest on its laurels after competing in last year’s FIFA World Cup, and that being “Kings of Concacaf is the overarching theme,” especially with the country set to co-host the 2026 World Cup.
“We want to win something this year. We've got to make statements like that," Herdman bluntly stated.
Canada will get a chance to win its first continental trophy since lifting the Gold Cup in 2000 after it posted a convincing 4-1 win over Honduras on Tuesday night before an announced crowd of 13,626.
