CanMNT Talk: What to make of Canada's win over Japan?
There were plenty of positives from John Herdman's side in its last World Cup warm-up, but also some causes for concern.
The Canadian men’s team came from behind to earn an important 2-1 win against Japan on Thursday in Dubai in its final warm-up match before the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The game appeared to be headed for a draw when Richie Laryea was fouled and brought down inside the box deep into injury time. Fellow substitute Lucas Cavallini converted from the penalty spot, as Japanese goalkeeper Shūichi Gonda managed to get a piece of his Panenka attempt but couldn’t keep it out. Defender Steven Vitória also scored for Canada who now sports a record of seven wins, four losses and one draw in 2022.
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, I break down Canada's win over Japan, what stood out about the performance from John Herdman's side, and more.
