The Canadian men's team's quest for its first trophy in 23 years remains on course.
Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies both scored for Canada in a 2-0 win over Panama in Thursday’s Concacaf Nations League semifinal at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Davies started on the bench before being subbed on in the 62nd minute. Just seven minutes later he bagged a sensational goal against a pesky Panamanian side that sealed the important victory for the Canadians.
Canada advances to Sunday’s final in Las Vegas where it will face the Unites States, who beat Mexico 3-0 in Thursday's other semifinal. Canada is 47th in the latest FIFA world rankings, 11 spots above Panama. The U.S. is 13th, and Mexico is 15th.
