Alphonso Davies highlights latest Canadian men's team roster
After a lengthy absence, Alphonso Davies is back in the fold for the Canadian men’s team.
Coach John Herdman on Wednesday unveiled his 25-man roster for next month’s international window that will see Canada play three games in a nine-day spell. Among the players on the latest Canadian squad is Davies, whose previous appearance for the Reds came in a 2-1 win over Mexico in Edmonton in World Cup qualifying on Nov. 16, 2021.
Davies, 21, ended up missing Canada's final six games of the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers after he was diagnosed with a mild heart condition in January. He has 10 goals and 15 assists in 30 matches (26 as a starter) since making his national team debut as a 16-year-old in a 2-1 win over Curaçao on June 13, 2017 in an exhibition match in Montreal.
The Canadian men went 4-2-0 in World Cup qualifying without Davies.
