Canada in Concacaf Nations League: Breaking down Herdman's roster
June is going to be a very busy month for the Canadian men's team as it moves forward with its preparations for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
The Reds are slated to host Panama in an international friendly on June 5 in Vancouver. Four days later, Canada will face Curaçao (also in Vancouver) in the first of two Concacaf Nations league qualifying matches, before travelling to Honduras to take on Los Catrachos on June 13.
Coach John Herdman named a 25-man squad last week, but he was thrown a curveball on Monday when Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio was ruled out through injury. Herdman isn't expected to call up a replacement player for Osorio.
Canada's roster includes LAFC fullback Raheem Edwards and 17-year-old Luca Koleosho from Espanyol. Edwards has four caps for Canada, but hasn't played for Canada since 2018. Koleosho has earned his first call up after recently making his La Liga debut against Granada. Forward Charles-Andreas, 23, is back in the team after previously appearing for Canada in a 4-1 win over Panama in World Cup qualifying on Oct. 13, 2021.
All the other members of this latest squad featured for Canada through World Cup qualifying from March 2021 to March 2022. Liam Millar, Liam Fraser and Ismaël Koné are among the most notable omissions as they were all part of Canada's World Cup qualifying window back in March.
