The 2021 Canadian Premier League season will kick off on June 26 in Winnipeg where the eight clubs will play the first portion of the campaign over a one-month period, TFC Republic learned on Saturday morning.
Sources have told TFC Republic that each CPL team will play eight matches at Winnipeg’s IG Field without fans, with Valour FC's home stadium hosting 32 total matches over the course of the four-week, single-site event that will conclude on July 24.
The full schedule for the Winnipeg-based portion of the CPL's 2021 season will be unveiled sometime next week, but the opening games on June 26 will feature Atlético Ottawa vs. FC Edmonton and HFX Wanderers FC vs. Pacific FC. The next day will feature defending champion Forge FC versus Valour FC and Cavalry FC versus York United FC, according to sources.
