David Edgar: 'Canadian program is in good hands' with Herdman
The Canadian men’s team is about to embark on one of its biggest tests of the John Herdman era.
After a bit of a hiatus, Canada returns to action when it plays away to Honduras (Jan. 27) and El Salvador (Feb. 2), and against the United States at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton (Jan. 30) in Concacaf World Cup qualifying.
This international window could go a long way in determining whether Canada will qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, so the pressure will be on Herdman’s side to earn results. Former defender David Edgar knows all about the daunting task facing the current Canadian team. Before retiring in 2020, David, currently an assistant coach with Forge FC in the CPL, earned 42 caps for Canada from 2011 to 2019, and made several trips down to Central America with the Reds.
In this one-on-one interview with TFC Republic, Edgar offers his views on Herdman’s team and much more.
