Transaction tracker: Toronto FC drafts winger with No. 1 pick
TFC picked winger Tyrese Spicer from Lipscomb University with the first overall selection in Tuesday's MLS SuperDraft.

Dec. 19, 2023: Reds select winger with No. 1 pick
Toronto FC used the first overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft to select winger Tyrese Spicer from Lipscomb University. TFC selected defender Joey Maher from Indiana University with its second-round pick (No. 30 overall). In the third round, Toronto selected Indiana midfielder Patrick McDonald (a junior) with the 59th pick and Stanford University midfielder Fletcher Bank (a sophomore) with the 85th pick.
Quick analysis: Needing to improve in all areas of the pitch, TFC opted to bolster its group of wingers by selecting Spicer, a 23-year-old native of Trinidad and Tobago.
