Ex-TFC star Maurice Edu: MLS SuperDraft still has relevance

Seventeen years have gone by since he was drafted but Maurice Edu still vividly remembers the moment.

A midfielder at the University of Maryland, Edu was in the front row in Indianapolis with his family surrounding him when commissioner Don Garber announced is name from the stage as the No. 1 overall pick by Toronto FC at the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.

"I remember sitting there and Don Garber comes up and calls out my name. And I just remember in that moment the pride I felt," Edu recalled.

He added: "It was a really special feeling, one that I cherish and have videos of it that I show my kids. It's definitely a moment I look back on with incredibly fond memories."
