Jonathan David, Vanessa Gilles named Players of the Year

Jonathan David and Vanessa Gilles were recognized for their sensational national team campaigns on Friday by being named Canada Soccer’s 2024 Players of the Year.  

David also won this award in 2019, while it's the first for Gilles.   

David finished first in balloting among Canadian media and coaches ahead of fellow finalists Moïse Bombito and Alistair Johnston. Gilles beat out Jessie Fleming and Evelyne Viens.  

Stephen Eustáquio and Fleming took home the honours in 2023. Earlier this week, Olivia Smith and Nathan Saliba were named Canada Soccer’s 2024 Young Players of the Year.
