TFC Talk: Toothless attack must be addressed this off-season

Despite boasting a roster with two of the most expensive players in MLS, Toronto FC's attack sputtered through the 2024 regular season.

While Federico Bernardeschi chipped in with a respectable eight goals in MLS, fellow Italian DP Lorenzo Insigne was limited to just four goals in league play. TAM player Prince Owusu led the team in scoring with nine goals in MLS, but he was incredibly streaky.

With 40 goals, Toronto had one of the weakest offensive records during the 2024 MLS season – only Austin FC (39), Nashville SC (38) and the New England Revolution (37) scored fewer times.

TFC Republic spoke to fellow Toronto FC beat reporter James Grossi, who also operates the Unattached FC website, about the Reds' collection of attackers from the 2024 campaign and what needs to be done to improve the team's offensive fortunes in 2025.
