Desiree Scott set to make up for lost time at the Olympics
For more than 11 years, Desiree Scott has been there for Canada, always in motion. Running, hustling, chasing, harassing, tackling. She never stops.
On the pitch, she deservedly earned the nickname “The Destroyer” on account of her physical style of play, highlighted by her fearless tackling ability, her relentless box-to-box pursuit of the ball, and her never-say-die spirit.
It’s one of the reasons why she’s featured in the heart of the Canadian midfield in countless friendlies, World Cups and Olympics, and other international tournaments since making her national team debut as a 22-year-old in a match against Switzerland at the Cyprus Cup on Feb. 24, 2010.
