Toronto FC vs. FC Cincinnati: 3 takeaways
TFC showed some genuine backbone in their season opener away to the reigning Supporters' Shield holders.
Toronto FC entered this year without a win in its last four MLS season openers.
That streak remains intact, but TFC can feel good about themselves after starting the 2024 MLS campaign with a credible 0-0 draw away to FC Cincinnati on Sunday.
Toronto lost all three of its previous visits to TQL Stadium and failed to win a single road game all last year as it collected just four points away from BMO Field. So, this was a good road point for the Reds who earned their first point under new coach John Herdman.
"I thought it was exactly what we needed for the first game of the season. We were able to get our first point in this league, which was nice. It was nice because they had to fight for it," Herdman said.
Here are my three major takeaways from Sunday's match.
