CanMNT Talk: Did BMO Field get short shrift with World Cup?
Vancouver will host one extra game than Toronto in 2026, but that shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.
FIFA took centre stage in the sports world this past weekend when it announced the schedule for the 2026 FIFA World Cup that will be co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Both Toronto's BMO Field and Vancouver's BC Place will get five group stage games. The Canadian men's team opens its World Cup campaign in Toronto on June 12, and then plays its remaining group stage contests in Vancouver on June 18 and 24.
Both BMO Field and BC Place will also stage one round-of-32 match, while Vancouver also gets a round-of-16 match. So, 13 total matches for Canada, with a seven to six split in favour of BC Place.
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, I discuss why Vancouver is getting an extra match, if Toronto should field aggrieved and much more.
