Canada set to begin life minus Sinclair at Concacaf W Gold Cup
The 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup marks the beginning of a new era for the Canadian women's team.
The Gold Cup, scheduled from Feb. 20 to March 10, will be the first competition for Canada since the international retirement of iconic captain Christine Sinclair. The tournament also kicks off the team's preparation for this summer’s Paris Olympics where it will defend its gold medal and seek to reach the podium for a fourth consecutive time.
Coach Bev Priestman on Wednesday announced her 23-player squad for the Gold Cup, which features several familiar names, including midfielder Jessie Fleming, goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan, defenders Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence, midfielder Quinn, and forwards Adriana Leon and Nichelle Prince.
