Toronto FC gives Zane Monlouis a chance to kickstart his career

For Monlouis, still only 21, a move to TFC represents a chance to finally get his club career going after several false starts.

Toronto FC gives Zane Monlouis a chance to kickstart his career

Zane Monloius is London born and bred, his thick accent a dead giveaway about his upbringing.

Toronto FC’s new defender grew up in Lewisham, a borough in southeast London, before joining Arsenal’s youth academy. He represented the London-based club across all youth levels, earning over 100 appearances for Arsenal’s U-18, U-21 and U-23 teams after signing his first professional contract in October 2020.

But he never played a single game for the Gunners at senior level – the closest he came was making Arsenal’s matchday squad for a pair of UEFA Champions League matches in October vs. Shakhtar Donetsk and December vs. AS Monaco. He was an unused substitute in both contests.
