TFC Flashback: Jermain Defoe gets frosty reception 1st time back in Toronto

In the latest instalment: With news this week that Toronto FC will be playing mid-season friendlies this coming season, we look back to the last time the Reds played an exhibition game during the MLS campaign: vs. Sunderland in a contest that marked Jermain Defoe's return to Toronto.

Jermain Defoe was gone, but he wasn't forgotten and he certainly wasn't forgiven.

Defoe received a very frosty reception from the 14,025 fans in attendance at BMO Field who witnessed Sunderland beat Toronto FC 2-1 on July 22, 2015. Jonathan Osorio scored early in the second half for Toronto, before Defoe netted twice for the English Premier League side.
