Jan. 20, 2025: Toronto extends goalkeeper through 2027
Toronto FC re-signs goalkeeper Luka Gavran to a new contract through 2027 with a club option for 2028.
Quick analysis: No surprises with this one, as the re-signing of Gavran continues a minor pattern from GM Jason Hernandez of locking up important Toronto FC players before their current deals expire.
Gavran, a 24-year-old native from Hamilton, Ont., was going to be out of contract at the end of this season after TFC picked up his option at the conclusion of the 2024 MLS campaign. But rather than wait until the end of this year to begin contract talks, the club wisely locked him early on for two more seasons, similar to how they re-signed midfielder Alonso Coello last week.
