CanWNT youngster Julia Grosso: 'I feel like my time will come'

The global pandemic has affected many members of the Canadian women’s team in different ways, but especially its youngsters.

The Canadian team was idle for close to a year due to COVID-19 precautions before competing in the 2021 SheBelieves Cup in Orlando in February. Prior to that four-nation, invitational tournament, Canada’s previous match was on March 10, 2020 when it battled Brazil to a 2-2 draw at the Tournoi de France. The enforced break due to the pandemic stunted the progress of a number of young prospects on the national team, including Julia Grosso.

Grosso, a 20-year-old midfielder from Vancouver, has earned 21 caps since making her senior team debut in 2017. She was on a strong upward trend following a solid showing at last year’s Concacaf Olympic qualifying tournament where she made two appearances (including a start in Canada’s opening match) and collected an assist on an Ashley Lawrence goal.
