Aimé Mabika eager to prove he deserves more chances at TFC
"It's difficult, but it is part of the process. It’s part of being a professional," the defender said of his lack of playing time.
It wasn’t supposed to be this way for Aimé Mabika.
Just before the MLS primary window closed in April, 2023, Toronto FC acquired the native of Zambia in a trade from Inter Miami in a move that he’d hoped would kickstart his MLS career.
Mabika started off in a strong fashion as he helped TFC bolster their back line with some solid displays. At six-feet-six and 214 pounds, he was a towering presence and appeared to have the ability to cover space behind when his team stepped up in attack.
But Mabika's positive form didn't last long as he dropped off a cliff after that and came under fire following a string of lacklustre performances both in MLS and the Leagues Cup.
