TFC's free fall continues with embarrassing road loss
Toronto FC couldn't stop the bleeding as it was hammered by the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
- Toronto FC 0, Columbus Crew 4 (Hernandez 15’; Ramirez 52’; Farsi 81’; Rossi 85’)
- TFC have now lost 6 in a row; winless skid stands at 9 matches
- Reds drop 1 spot to 9th place in Eastern Conference standings
John Herdman didn’t hide his admiration for the Columbus Crew earlier this week when speaking about Toronto FC’s upcoming opponent.
“It's what [TFC are] aspiring to in terms of our club wide approach and being able to build the sort of depth that it's going to take to really compete,” Herdman said.
Saturday gave ample evidence of exactly why Herdman enviously looks to Columbus for inspiration as the reigning MLS Cup champions rolled to an easy 4-0 victory over the hapless Reds at Lower.com Field.
With its sixth straight loss, Toronto FC (7-13-3) dropped one spot in the Eastern Conference table to ninth and is now winless in nine matches with just one victory in its previous 12 outings. The Reds’ last victory came in an 8-1 decision over semi-pro side CS Saint-Laurent in the Canadian Championship on May 21. Their previous league win was a 5-1 beatdown of CF Montreal on May 18.
