Luka Gavran didn't have a hometown professional club to cheer for while growing up in Hamilton, Ont.

But Gavran will get the chance to face Hamilton-based Forge FC in the 2024 Canadian Championship semifinals.

The Canadians on Saturday earned their first victory over their closest neighbours on American soil for the first time since 1957.

"What I know from Shane is you’re going to get an honest shift every time he plays," John Herdman said of the centre back.

Idle since its fourth-place finish at the Copa América, Canada returns to action in Saturday's friendly vs. the U.S. in Kansas City.
