Toronto FC vs. New York Red Bulls: What you need to know
Coming off two straight home losses, Toronto FC now faces the daunting challenge of meeting one of the best road teams in MLS this weekend when it faces the New York Red Bulls.
A midweek 2-1 defeat at the hands of Nashville SC extended TFC's winless skid to five games (three losses). TFC’s previous victory was an 8-1 decision over semi-pro side CS Saint-Laurent in the Canadian Championship on May 21. Its last MLS win was a 5-1 beatdown of CF Montreal on May 18.
“We’ve been really good away [from home] so hopefully this is the start of a good transition into the next phase of the season,” goalkeeper Luka Gavran said. “We’ve done well away, we’ve defended well away, we’ve given ourselves chances away. We’ll go into this game with a good mentality and we’re going to be ready.”
Here’s what you need to know about Saturday's match between Toronto and New York at Red Bull Arena (7:30 p.m. ET/Apple TV & TSN).
