Toronto FC shut out in latest setback to New York Red Bulls

Not even a weather delay could save Toronto FC from continuing its downward spiral.  

TFC stalled and stuttered and were played off the park in a humbling 3-0 road loss to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night, yet another performance that further exposed the team's lack of depth and the need for reinforcements during the summer transfer window.

Referee Joe Dickerson halted the game after only 10 minutes and ordered the players off the field at Red Bull Arena due to a severe weather warning in the area. Following a 100-minute delay, the game resumed at 9:30 p.m. ET. It proved to be only a brief reprieve for Toronto (7-10-3) who has now lost three in a row and is winless in six overall, and dropped one spot to eighth place in the Eastern Conference table.

TFC’s previous victory was an 8-1 decision over semi-pro side CS Saint-Laurent in the Canadian Championship on May 21. Its last MLS win was a 5-1 beatdown of CF Montreal on May 18. This was the fourth consecutive match in which Toronto conceded multiple goals (11 in total).
