State of the union: Toronto FC in desperate need of a reset
A TFC side that was once a tough nut to crack for opponents has lost that crucial piece of its identity and badly needs to rediscover it.
The look of exasperation on John Herdman’s face said it all.
After speaking to reporters on a Zoom call on Saturday following Toronto FC’s 3-0 road loss to the New York Red Bulls, Herdman leaned back in his chair, raised his hands behind his head, puffed out his cheeks and let out a big sigh.
You could hardly blame him after what he witnessed over the previous 90 minutes. Yet another in a long line of recent uninspired displays from TFC condemned them to their third loss on the bounce and extended their winless streak to six matches (with just one victory in their last nine MLS outings).
