Canada vs. Costa Rica at Concacaf Gold Cup: What you need to know
A semifinal berth is within Canada's reach. All that stands in its way is an opponent it has never lost to before at senior team level.
The Canadian women's team enters the knockout round of the Concacaf W Gold Cup as the top seed after posting a trio of shutout victories in the group stage.
Canada will now try to make it four wins in a row when it faces familiar foe Costa Rica in the quarter-finals this weekend, a team it has already defeated in its last game at this competition.
"Our mindset throughout the group has been that we will improve on every game and I think we've done that. We've focused on making us better, whilst respecting our opponents," Canadian coach Bev Priestman said.
"There's things we could've done better in [the] last game that we're really going towards, while also seeing glimpses of Costa Rica at their best. We have to be prepared and ready for that."
Here’s what you need to know about Saturday's match between Canada and Costa Rica at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles (7:00 p.m. ET/OneSoccer).
