Toronto FC suffers 1st defeat under Robin Fraser
- Toronto FC 2 (Rosted 72’; Flores 86’), Orlando City 4 (Araújo 33’; Freeman 35’; Ojeda 63’; Thorhallsson 81’)
- Reds have lost 8 of their last 10 matches vs. Orlando
- Brynhildsen came off bench in 2nd half in his MLS debut
There were no late-game heroics this time around from Toronto FC at Inter&Co Stadium.
TFC pulled a rabbit out of hat last April by scoring two goals in the final three minutes of regulation time to earn a rare come-from-behind win in their previous visit to Orlando City’s home.
That must seem like ages ago for a Toronto side that stumbled to a 4-2 defeat to Orlando on Saturday. Sigurd Rosted and Deybi Flores scored in a losing cause for TFC who was coming off a respectable draw away to D.C. United in last week's MLS season opener.
A decent opening 30 minutes by the Reds was wiped out by a pair of Orlando goals in a two-minute span on its first two shots on target, and Robin Fraser’s men couldn’t fight their way back. Not playing with a No. 9 meant TFC didn’t have someone to play into in and around Orlando's penalty area, nor did they have a main reference point up top, and the attack sputtered as a result.
