TFC's Jonathan Osorio keeps pushing after 300 MLS games
Toronto FC's captain let the special milestone pass without any fanfare this past weekend as he was focused on the task at hand.
As far as MLS debuts go, Jonathan Osorio’s was rather uneventful.
On March 9, 2013, a 20-year-old Osorio stepped onto the pitch for the first time for Toronto FC when he replaced future coach Terry Dunfield in the 82nd minute of a 2-1 home win over Sporting Kansas City at Rogers Centre.
Osorio’s eight-minute cameo came and went rather unspectacularly, leading this correspondent to not even mention the TFC youngster’s debut in his match report for Sportsnet.
Three weeks later, Osorio again came on as a second-half sub, this time scoring in a 2-2 draw against the LA Galaxy at BMO Field. Osorio showed promise in those two brief appearances, but few at the time could have envisioned that the upstart midfielder would go on to become a towering figure at TFC.
