TORONTO – Home sweet home? Not for Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon.

TFC took an early lead but then relinquished it and never threatened to score a second time en route to suffering a disappointing 2-1 loss to the Chicago Fire in their home opener before an announced crowd of 22, 738 at BMO Field.

Deandre Kerr scored for Toronto (0-3-1) who is still without a win under new coach Robin Fraser. TFC have an all-time record of 9-7-3 in their MLS home openers dating back to their inaugural season in 2007.

Toronto’s last home match was on Oct. 5 when it suffered a shutout loss to Inter Miami in their finale of the 2024 regular season. After such a long time away from BMO Field, you’d have expected a more spirited display from the Reds. Instead, a solid start to the game by TFC quickly vanished into dust as Fire outclassed the hosts for most of the contest.
