Canada falls to Mexico in Concacaf Nations League
A shutout loss in Thursday’s semifinal in Los Angeles eliminated the Canadians from the continental competition.

- Canada 0, Mexico 2 (Jiménez 1’, 75’)
- Canadians concede after only 46 seconds into match
- Les Rouges will play U.S. in Sunday’s 3rd place game
The Canadian men’s team quest for its first major trophy in 25 years continues unabated.
Canada conceded inside the opening minute and couldn’t find a way back into the game as it suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to Mexico in Thursday’s Concacaf Nations League semifinal at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez scored both goals for El Tri against the Canadians, who'll meet the United States in Sunday's third place match. Panama defeated the U.S. 1-0 in Thursday's other semifinal.
Although Mexico entered this match at No. 19 in the FIFA world rankings, it was 31st-ranked Canada who was considered the slight favourite based on the current form of both nations. But Les Rouges came up short and couldn't find their attacking rhythm in a physical contest that threatened to boil over several times.
