  • Coach Jesse Marsch red carded early in the second half
  • Tani Oluwaseyi scores 1st goal in 11 games for Canada

Coming off a disappointing loss, the Canadian men’s team managed to salvage a bit of pride at the Concacaf Nations League on Sunday.

Les Rouges dominated the United States in earning a 2-1 win in the third-place match at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in the latest chapter of the heated rivalry between the neighbouring nations.

Tani Oluwaseyi and Jonathan David scored for Canada, who saw coach Jesse Marsch sent off early in the second half after being restrained by several players as he remonstrated with the referee over two penalty decisions that his team weren't awarded.

"Jesse was sticking up for his team. And in the end, for sure, it galvanized the boys," assistant coach Mauro Biello said. "They saw the trust and how much it means to him and we were able to come back and get that second goal."
