Toronto FC humbled at home by Sporting Kansas City
TFC's attack looked limp without Lorenzo Insigne as they stumbled to their second loss of the season on Saturday night.
- Toronto FC 1 (Osorio 90'+7'), Sporting Kansas City 3 (Walter 57’; Davis 64’; Vargas 83’)
- TFC gives up three goals for first time this season
- Bernardeschi makes 50th MLS appearance for Reds
TORONTO – The long, hard grind has begun for Toronto FC.
Mired in an injury crisis that has claimed Lorenzo Insigne for the next six weeks, TFC looked far from their best as they came out on the wrong end of a 3-1 decision against Sporting Kansas City on a crisp Saturday night at BMO Field.
Goalkeeper Luka Gavran was sensational in making six saves in the first half, but that wasn’t enough to prevent Toronto (3-2-1) from suffering its second loss of the MLS campaign after conceding three times in the final 45 minutes.
How the Reds could have used a dash of Insigne’s magic on this night. The Italian has scored two highlight-reel winners this season, but he was reduced to a spectator for this match after injuring his hamstring last week.
