Depleted Toronto FC shut out in road loss to Nashville SC
- Toronto FC 0, Nashville SC 2 (Moore 81’; Bunbury 90’+1’)
- TFC were missing nine players through injuries and suspensions
- Assistant Jason de Vos ran things with John Herdman suspended
For 80 minutes on Wednesday night, a severely short-handed Toronto FC put in a workmanlike effort and looked like it was going to pick up a valuable road point.
But TFC couldn’t close things out and conceded a pair of late goals en route to a 2-0 loss to Nashville SC at GEODIS Park.
How things have changed in such a short period of time for the Reds. A victory last weekend would’ve propelled them into second place, a position that few could have foreseen even this early in the season after the club stumbled its way through its worst ever campaign in 2023.
But Toronto (6-6-1) has now lost two games in a row and has dropped down to sixth from fourth in the Eastern Conference table. And more bad news could be on the way for TFC that threatens to further complicate things for them.
