TORONTO – This was boys vs. men stuff.
Deandre Kerr scored a first-half hat trick and added a fourth goal after halftime break guide Toronto FC to an 8-1 beatdown of semi-professional club CS Saint-Laurent on Tuesday in the second leg of its Canadian Championship quarter-final.
Cassius Mailula, and substitutes Derrick Etienne Jr. and Prince Owusu also scored for the Reds who played with a man advantage from the 45th minute onward after Saint-Laurent midfielder Ossama Boughanmi was red carded.
A bloodthirsty John Herdman didn’t let up with his team up 5-0 as he subbed on Italian DP Federico Bernardeschi in the 63rd minute. That ruthless attitude trickled down to TFC's players who routinely picked the ball out of the net after scoring and rushed back to the halfway line in order to get the game going again.
