Toronto FC regroups with credible road draw vs. Philadelphia Union
TFC earned their sixth clean sheet of the season on Wednesday, equalling their total from the 2023 MLS campaign.
- Toronto FC 0, Philadelphia Union 0
- TFC collects 23rd point, 1 more than they had all last season
- Insigne missed the game as his wife gave birth to their 3rd son
After leaking goals in recent weeks, Toronto FC rediscovered its stellar defensive form from earlier in the year on Wednesday night.
TFC expertly kept the Philadelphia Union at arm’s length to earn a 0-0 draw at Subaru Park and pick up a valuable road point.
With this result Toronto (7-7-2) now has 23 points, one more than it had all last season. The Reds also have six clean sheets this year, equalling their total from the 2023 MLS campaign.
Toronto recorded five clean sheets through its first nine matches of the current season, but then conceded 10 times in its last four league outings. So, this was a badly needed shutout from a team that was trending in the wrong direction and had lost its steely defensive posture.
