TFC Talk: Reds close out gruelling run vs. slumping D.C.
Jason Anderson of Pro Soccer Wire previews Saturday's game between Toronto FC and D.C. United.
Toronto FC will look to build upon its midweek draw away to the Philadelphia Union when it visits D.C. United on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET/Apple TV).
D.C. (4-6-6) is currently 10th in the Eastern Conference, four spots and five points below Toronto (7-7-2) in the table. D.C. is winless in its last four games, including a 4-2 road loss to CF Montreal on Wednesday.
Belgian forward Christian Benteke is tied for second in league scoring with 13 goals, which accounts for more than half of D.C.'s 23 goals this season. With 29 goals against, D.C. has the second worst defensive record in the East.
Toronto and D.C. last met on May 27, 2023, when the Reds earned a 2-1 home win to end their goal drought at 418 minutes and snap a four-game winless skid.
TFC Republic spoke to reporter Jason Anderson of Pro Soccer Wire about Saturday's game, D.C.'s season so far, and much more.
