Winners of five consecutive matches in all competitions (its longest such run since 2020), TFC will be looking to extend their winning streak when they host New York City FC this weekend. Toronto (6-4-1) currently sits third in the Eastern Conference and can climb into second place with a win, if FC Cincinnati also loses on the road to the Columbus Crew on Saturday.
"It always feels better when we're winning. The start of the season felt good and then we had a blip. But we responded well, and I think a win [against New York] to just stay in touch with that top four, that's the exciting thing. We're right there," coach John Herdman told reporters after Friday's practice.
