Toronto FC in 2023: Who was worth their salary cap hit?
2023 was a year to forget for Toronto FC as it was the single worst campaign in franchise history.
Toronto (4-20-10, 22 points) set new club records for the fewest wins and points in a single MLS season. The Reds ended the year with seven straight losses (and just one win in their last 21 games) and finished dead last in the overall league standings while missing the playoffs for a third straight time.
In a salary cap league such as MLS, it's especially important that players provide value for their cap hit. It's fair to say that was a major problem for the Reds in 2023. Too many players didn't.
In part 3 of a special four-part series, TFC Republic looks at the wages of every Toronto FC player who ended the season with the club and determines whether they were worth their salary cap hit.
