TFC Talk: No PR black eye for Reds over drone scandal

Last week, it was determined that a parliamentary committee will not question some of the coaches involved in the drone scandal that rocked Canadian soccer this year.

During the Paris Olympics, a drone was flown over New Zealand's women’s practice in Saint-Étienne, France prior to its game against Canada. Canadian women’s team coach Bev Priestman, assistant coach Jasmine Mander, analyst Joey Lombardi were all sent home from the Olympics for their involvement in the episode. FIFA later suspended all three from soccer activities for a year.

Ashton wanted to hear not only from Priestman, but also current Toronto FC head coach John Herdman, who was previously in charge of the Canadian men’s and women’s teams. But her motion was voted down and as a result, Herdman won’t be forced to go to Ottawa and answer questions about his alleged involvement in the usage of drones to spy on opponents during his time at Canada Soccer.

In the latest video blog, we discuss how Toronto FC avoided a major headache in not having to testify before MPs in the nation's capital.
