Canada vs. Suriname: What you need to know
Les Rouges will try to take a step closer to qualifying for the Concacaf Nations League finals with a win in Suriname on Friday.
A semifinal run at this summer's Copa América was a huge accomplishment for the Canadian men's team.
But now it's about the men's team hoisting its first major trophy since winning the 2000 Concacaf Gold Cup. Canada will take the first step towards that goal when it faces off against Suriname in the quarter-finals of the Concacaf Nations League this month.
"I think it's going to present some difficult moments. I don't think you can predict things in [the Concacaf] region, especially when you play away. It's the road matches that are always difficult," Canadian fullback Richie Laryea told TFC Republic this week.
Here’s what you need to know about Friday's match between Canada and Suriname at Paramaribo's Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion (6:30 p.m. ET/OneSoccer).
