Canadian women's team to close out year with new interim coach
Under-20 coach Cindy Tye will oversee the Canadian women's senior team for its pair of upcoming international friendlies.
Eager to move on from the drone scandal at this summer’s Paris Olympics, the Canadian women’s team will be back on the pitch in the coming weeks for a pair of international friendlies.
The Canadian team will travel to south-eastern Spain to face Iceland on Nov. 29 and South Korea on Dec. 3. Both matches will be played at the Pinatar Arena in Murcia.
Cindy Tye, coach of Canada's under-20 team, will serve as interim head coach of the senior team for its last two games of the year. Andy Spence acted as the team's interim coach at the Olympics and for last month's friendly vs. Spain, but he was unavailable for this camp and is scheduled to return for the next FIFA window
Tye is a 52-year-old native of Nova Scotia who is also a former Canadian international who earned six caps for the national team. She is currently the associate athletic director and women's head coach at Dalhousie University.
