AFC Toronto signs NWSL defender Croix Soto
The American centre back Croix Soto is the first player to move directly from the NWSL to the Northern Super League.
The Northern Super League is aiming to take its place alongside the other top women’s leagues from around the world during its inaugural 2025 season.
To do that, the NSL has to attract players from some of those other leagues. On Monday, we saw our first defection from the NWSL to the NSL as AFC Toronto announced the signing of centre back Croix Soto.
Soto, a 23-year-old native of California, played her NCAA soccer at the University of Oregon before signing with the NWSL’s Kansas City Current for the 2023 season where she played alongside Canadian Desiree Scott.
